The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is the the bigger brother of HPE’s DL360 Gen9 server. Whilst it has the same amount of CPU sockets and DIMM slots it has more expansion options for disks and cards.

This server has two sockets for CPUs and supports the E5-2600v3 and E5-2600v4 processor ranges. Hyper threading is supported on nearly all of the processors in the V3 and V4 range.

Using load reduced dimms you could have a maximum RAM capacity of 3TB! DDR4 registered dimms allow for up 768GB of memory and using non volatile DDR4 dimms gives a max capacity of 128GB.

There are 4 different chassis versions for this server:
8x SFF
24x SFF
4x LFF
12x LFF
Please note it is not possible to have an optical drive installed in the server with either the 24x SFF or 12x LFF chassis versions. The maximum internal storage using SFF SAS SSDs in this server is nearly 400TB!

Expandability
The rear of the HPE DL380 G9 has up to 6 PCIe slots, 1x optional FlexibleLOM slot, and 4x 1GbE embedded ports. Also present are 2x USB 3.0, dedicated iLO connector, an optional serial port, optional 2 hard disk drive slots and VGA connector.

10x SFF at the front
4x LFF at the front
You cannot have an optical drive if you choose the 10x SFF or 4x LFF chassis.
